What I do.
I specialize in writing, editing, and creating visual and digital content solutions for organizations and individual leaders.
I have written about everything from the price theory approach in economics to climate policy and agricultural productivity to hotel apps to chatbots to multimedia art installations. I love working with leaders of all kinds and helping to make wonky topics accessible and engaging for non-experts. I also help shape strategy and develop content through acquisitions or by curating and managing teams.
My clients include leaders and leading institutions around the world, including the Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics at the University of Chicago, Climate Policy Initiative-Brazil, researchers at MIT and PUC-Rio, and media outlets such as BuiltWorlds, Entrepreneur and SciArt.
What I've done.
The experience I bring to all of your projects has been gained through my work as a consultant and on-staff positions at great organizations.
I am the former Communications Director for the Consortium on Financial Systems and Poverty at the University of Chicago. This global economics research initiative was funded through a multi-million dollar grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Chicago. Economist Robert M. Townsend of MIT served as principal investigator and faculty director.
I also served as the digital content producer of About.com Chicago (when it was owned by The New York Times). As their digital producer, I wrote hundreds of blog posts and feature articles, and I tripled year-over-year site traffic.
Prior to launching Bowerbird, I worked as an Executive Editor and Content Strategist in higher education for The McGraw-Hill Companies, and as an Executive Editor at Mosby Medical Publishers. In these roles, I was responsible for managing content assets valued at more than $8M, annually acquiring content with more than $1M revenue goals, negotiating acquisitions, serving as author liaison, and meeting deadlines and budgets. I consistently earned honors to the Chairman’s Council for Outstanding Editors for meeting signing and management goals.
I earned a Master of Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago and a B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I volunteer for the Alliance for the Great Lakes and help lead their beach-cleanup every September at North Avenue Beach. I love to spend time with my family, write poetry, play tennis, and ride my bike.
